Margaret Jurd College in Shortland Newcastle

News of the day:

The most exciting news of all !!

The school is coming!!!  For anyone who has driven past our site at Tuncurry, you would have seen great changes.  The manse is being completely refitted, and work has commenced on the new carpark in Bent Street.

Away from this, the new campuses head teacher Josh Field has moved into the area and has commenced work liasing with interested parties, making contact with schools, health professionals and community groups.  Expressions of interest in relation to both sy=tudents and staff have been advertised and Josh is in the process of working through these.

Whilst it is hoped that the school will be operational by Term 1 of 2024, it is morelikely that this will be at the start of term 2.

We are so excited about this , not just from a church perspective but on what this school can offer our community.  Focussed solely on meeting the needs of children who have fallen through the cracks of mainstream education, the college boasts a wonderful array of social workers and case workers to support the students reach their highest potential.  Initially planned for years 9 - 10, the school realizes that each students path has, and will continue ot be unique and therefore their programmes for each child are individually tailored to that student's needs.

Both our congregation and the college are eally excited about offering this type of education to some of our communities most fragile children.

More information will be available through various media forums as news and developments occur.
